Before you apply or pay any fee, open the official source linked in each row and confirm with the consulate or immigration authority that handles your application.
Visa comparison table
Showing all 14 visas.
| Country | Visa | Minimum income | Max stay and renewal | Key requirements | Official source | Last verified |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Colombia | Visa V, Digital Nomad | 3 x legal monthly minimum wage (SMMLV) = COP 5,252,715 per month in 2026 The 2026 SMMLV is COP 1,750,905 (Decreto 1469 de 2025), so the threshold resets every January. | Up to 2 years |
| ||
| Costa Rica | Remote Workers and Service Providers stay (Digital Nomad) | USD 3,000 per month from outside Costa Rica (USD 4,000 per month if dependents apply) Both the migration authority (DGME, which cites Ley 10008) and the tourism board state USD 3,000 alone and USD 4,000 with dependents; the USD 5,000 family figure seen elsewhere is not on either page. The live DGME site blocks automated access, so its text was read from a 29 Aug 2025 Wayback snapshot; the tourism board page was read live. The renewal length (1 more year) is from the tourism board only. | 1 year, renewable for 1 more year |
| ||
| Croatia | Temporary stay for digital nomads | EUR 3,622.50 per month (2.5 x average net salary), or savings of EUR 43,470 (12 months) / EUR 65,205 (18 months) Threshold is 2.5 x the average monthly net salary of the previous year (Official Gazette 14/21 and 3/26), plus 10% of that salary per additional family member. | Up to 18 months; an extension of up to 6 months is possible if granted for less than 18 |
| ||
| Ecuador | Temporary residence for remote work (Visa Nomada) | 3 x basic unified salary (SBU) = USD 1,446 per month in 2026, or 36 SBU per year; plus USD 250 per month per dependent The gob.ec procedure page still states 3 SBU per month (or 36 SBU per year), validity up to 2 years and USD 250 per dependent, but it is dated 31 Dec 2024 and gives no dollar figure. The 2026 SBU of USD 482 (Acuerdo MDT-2025-195) comes from a Ministerio del Trabajo bulletin that could not be re-opened in this check (site timed out) and from news coverage, so USD 1,446 is derived, not quoted. | Up to 2 years, renewable once |
| ||
| Greece | Digital Nomad Visa (long-stay national visa) | EUR 3,500 per month Two separate documents, commonly conflated: a national Type-D visa of up to 12 months issued by a Greek consulate abroad, then a 2-year renewable residence permit (type I.8) applied for inside Greece BEFORE the visa expires -- file it in month 11 or you will have missed it. Since Law 5275/2026 (in force 5 Feb 2026) the visa must be obtained before arrival; in-country applications ended. EUR 3,500 per month is stated by the Embassy of Greece in London. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs page now only redirects to workfromgreece.gr (read via a May 2026 Wayback snapshot; the live site returns 403). workfromgreece.gr describes the amount as after tax and adds a 2-year renewable residence permit after the visa; the embassy page does not say net or gross. | Up to 12 months |
| ||
| Indonesia | E33G Remote Worker Visa | USD 60,000 per year (proof via bank records) | 1 year, renewable online |
| ||
| Italy | Digital Nomad / Remote Worker Visa | At least 3 x the healthcare-exemption minimum: EUR 24,789 per year (Washington, text dated 2024) or EUR 25,500 (3 x EUR 8,500, Melbourne July 2026); remote employees also need a gross salary of at least EUR 33,000 Consulates disagree on the euro figure: the Embassy in Washington still prints EUR 24,789 "at the time of writing in 2024" in its 2026 checklist, while the Consulate General in Melbourne (July 2026) cites EUR 8,500 as the exemption minimum, which makes EUR 25,500. No Italian ministry page with an updated 2026 figure was reached, so confirm the figure with your consulate. The 1-year permit length is from the Washington checklist, also worded "at the time of writing in 2024". | Residence permit issued for 1 year after arrival (apply at the Questura within 8 working days), renewable |
| ||
| Malta | Nomad Residence Permit | EUR 42,000 gross per year (EUR 3,500 per month equivalent) Renewal requires proof of at least 5 months in Malta over the previous 12. | 1 year; renewable up to 4 years in total at the agency's discretion |
| ||
| Mexico | Temporary Resident Visa (no dedicated nomad visa) | CAD 6,461 per month, tax-free, over the last 6 months, or an average balance of CAD 108,894 over 12 months (figures set by the Embassy of Mexico in Canada) This page has no nomad-specific category; this is the standard temporary resident visa that remote workers use. Each mission publishes thresholds in local currency and the Canadian-dollar figures are from one mission only, so other missions will quote different amounts. Read from the 29 Sep 2026 Wayback snapshot of the live page. | Temporary residence for more than 180 days, up to 4 years |
| ||
| Portugal | D8 Residence Visa for remote work | 4 x monthly minimum wage = EUR 3,680 per month in 2026 The visa portal states the threshold as four times the guaranteed monthly minimum wage. The Government announced the 2026 minimum wage of EUR 920 on 17 Dec 2025, so 4 x 920 = EUR 3,680. Permit length is from Article 75(1) of Lei 23/2007 (2 years, then successive 3-year renewals) in the 2022 consolidated text; Lei 61/2025 changed only paragraph 2 of that article. Lei 62/2026 (10 Sep 2026) also amends the law and was not reviewed. | Entry visa valid 4 months (2 entries); AIMA then issues a residence permit valid 2 years, renewable in 3-year periods |
| ||
| Slovenia | Temporary residence permit for digital nomads | At least 2 x the average monthly net salary in Slovenia (euro amount not stated on the page) Introduced 21 November 2025. The threshold is based on the average gross salary most recently published in the Official Gazette, so the euro figure changes; the Ministry of the Interior notice does not give it. Family members can join immediately. | Up to 1 year, not extendable; you can reapply 6 months after expiry |
| ||
| Spain | Telework Visa (International Teleworker) | 200% of the monthly minimum wage (SMI) = EUR 2,442 per month on the 2026 SMI of EUR 1,221 (consulate figure) Real Decreto 126/2026 sets the SMI at EUR 1,221 per month (EUR 40.70 per day; EUR 17,094 a year if paid in 14 instalments). The Spanish consulates in Washington and Houston apply 200% to the EUR 1,221 monthly figure (EUR 2,442; EUR 916 and EUR 305 for family). The EUR 2,849 figure seen elsewhere is 200% of the annual SMI spread over 12 months (17,094 / 12 x 2). It matches how the Santiago consulate worded the rule in 2023 (200% of the annual gross SMI), but no 2026 consulate page using it was found. No ministry page gives one euro figure, so ask your consulate which basis it uses. | Visa valid 1 year |
| ||
| Sri Lanka | Digital Nomad Visa | USD 2,000 per month (add USD 500 per dependent beyond two) Reactivated 14 February 2026. | 1 year, renewable annually |
| ||
| Thailand | Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), Workcation | THB 500,000 in savings (3-month bank statements); no monthly income minimum on the checklists Thai embassy checklists dated 1 September 2026 (Bern, London, Washington) now ask for permanent-residence proof in the country of application and a police clearance, and no longer list the 6-month Thai lease or salary slips that the older Thai MFA checklist (Kuala Lumpur version) and the Dubai consulate checklist still show. The 31 August 2026 start date comes from secondary sources, because the central MFA announcement and the e-visa portal (thaievisa.go.th, script-rendered) could not be read. Checklists differ by embassy, so use the one where you apply. | Visa valid 5 years, multiple entry; 180 days per entry, one extension of up to 180 days |

How to read this table
- Amounts are shown in the currency each authority uses. We do not convert them, because exchange rates move and thresholds are set in local terms.
- Several thresholds are formulas tied to a minimum wage (Portugal, Spain, Colombia, Ecuador) or an average salary (Croatia, Slovenia, Italy's healthcare-exemption formula). They reset when that figure changes.
- Stay sorting uses the initial visa or permit validity stated by the authority. Renewal rules are in the stay column.
- Not listed: Albania, Armenia, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Montenegro. We only add a country once its figures are confirmed at an official source.
